Mandatory Extra Time

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) adds 1 full day to your training. You complete this before your Door Supervisor or Security Guard course. Self-study adds 3 to 8 hours of mandatory e-learning at home before your classroom course begins.

You apply for an SIA licence before you undertake licensable security work. After course completion, your exam results arrive in 7 to 10 working days. You then create an account on the SIA portal to submit your application.

The SIA verifies everything on their site, including ID checks, criminal background checks, and right-to-work checks. Once approved, you receive your SIA licence and can begin working in licensed security roles.

Your exam results arrive in 7 to 10 working days. The SIA then processes licence applications in an average of 10 working days once your application reaches the checks in progress stage. Most learners hold a badge 4 to 6 weeks after booking their course.

Your first resit is free, and we email or call you to arrange it, if you do not pass your exam. Further resits cost £80 per paper.

The SIA licence application fee is £204, paid directly to the Security Industry Authority when you submit your licence application after completing your SIA Security Training Course. The SIA licence is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.

You can renew from 4 months before your licence expires and up to 3 years after it expires, by completing the refresher course for your licence type. Past 3 years, you complete the full SIA course again and apply as a first-time applicant.
